Question by Chris D: How do you apply to school when on a SSI grant?
My aunt wants to apply for dog grooming school and she’s on a mental disability SSI. She is in her 40s and wants to be a dog groomer. The mental disability is for depression, aniexty (sp?), and she has PTSD (postraumatic stress disorder). She works great with animals, not so well with people.

If she is disabled then she is on SSDI and I’ve never heard of an “SSI grant”. Do you mean the monthly payments? If that is what you mean, it will have no effect on her application. She should sent in an application just like anyone else.
