For those of you who have been through the college application process, should I involve my parents in the applying process and have them look over my shoulder and stuff when I’m applying for college or should I do it myself? I have gotten into a few arguments with them about it and they think they should be involved and help me while I apply online for the colleges I have chosen to apply to.

High school counselors spend an average of 23 minutes working with their college-bound students on the college search and planning process. Most high school counselors work with more than 350 students. Few high school counselors are able to visit colleges or attend national conferences because their schools do not have the budget for them to do so.

Applying to college can be a very stressful experience. The whole process has changed dramatically in the last twenty years. Being recognized as one of the top business school in the country, Babson College normally gets a lot of applications every year. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is the one in charge of receiving application letters for Babson admissions and sifting through them to allow acceptance only to a select few. To a high school graduate dreaming of getting excellent education in entrepreneurship and business management, gaining Babson admissions would surely be a thing to prize.

Non-native English speakers are also required to submit TOEFL and IELTS scores. All applicants seeking Babson admissions are also required to pay the $65 application fee online.

College students of other business schools who wish to transfer to Babson College are also given chances to gain Babson admissions. They also need to submit a letter of recommendation from a college professor, submit an esay, mid-semester grade report, the College Official’s report, and pay the application fee.

Every year, Babson College get numerous applicants from international students who wish to learn from its unique curriculum. To encourage international diversity, the college has established the International Student Scholar Services to help foreign students gain Babson admissions and aid them in the adjustment to a new environment. Cost is also an important consideration in gaining Babson admissions, more so for an international student. To ensure that a prospective student has the means to finish their education, a letter signed by parents or sponsor is also required. Unlike test scores, essays will probably be required with every college application. The good news is that essays provide adult students with an edge. The reason is that adult students have a great deal of real-world experience, which is great fodder for essays. Essays are designed to tell the admissions committee who the applicant is, what they are capable of, and how their unique life experience will contribute to their success as a student. And because adult students have a broader range of experience to draw from, essays are far more advantageous for them than for high-school-age applicants. Just let your work speak for itself.

Transcripts

Although essays will inform the admissions committee that you possess certain intangibles, such as experience or desire, the committee will also want to see numbers. As such, part of the application might include a high school transcript or GED scores. Committees realize that just because an applicant earned a poor grade in a class fifteen years ago, it doesn’t mean they’re doomed to the same fate now. What they are looking for is a broad academic picture. Thus, adult students in reasonably good standing shouldn’t have any problems, even with a few questionable marks here and there. Students whose transcripts are lacking are not doomed either, but they may need to show evidence of academic progress in other areas, such as work or perhaps in a non-credit continuing education course. Remember that if grades and transcripts don’t tell the real story, you simply need to find another way to demonstrate your academic potential.

Back in high school, academics were the focus of your life. So even though applying to college may have been frustrating and time-consuming, it was at least familiar. Applying as an adult, however, forces you to engage in the sort of work you may not have done in a long time. But the truth is the application process will probably be easier now than was when you were a teenager. The important thing is to play to your strengths and provide an honest assessment of your academic potential. Let the admissions committee take care of the rest.
