Question about the SATS & CUNY/SUNY colleges?

i’m going to be taking my sats and applying for college soon. the problem is that i was a stupid kid back then and did really bad in school. the last i checked i had about a 65 average, right now i’m currently attending an alternative highschool, but i doesn’t give number grades, only a pass or a fail. my advisor says that my graders here don’t count towards the average. so i was wondering does anyone here know if i have a chance at a cuny or suny if i get a really good score on my SATS but my highschool record was bad?

No, sorry, you can try to attend some alternative colleges in the South that have “walk in” policies. I think Prairie View A & M has a walk in policy.

It means if you want to go to college and walk into the adminstriation office and apply; they will accept you.

Colleges look at GPA, test scores, extracurricular activities, and your overall consistency throughout highschool. With a failing average, meaning a terrible GPA, I would highly doubt any decent college would accept you. Colleges like to see dedicated students, and a failing average could hardly be called that. Even if you did bad all throughout highschool but started doing better in your senior year, a really good college still wouldnt take you (solely based on grades, anyways). I used to think 9th and 10th grade were a joke, didnt matter, but that was very stupid of me. Every year counts, especially if you hope to get into a nice college. Perhaps if you have played a few sports every year and have shown dedication in other areas (i.e community service, jobs, sports, clubs) and if you do well on your SATs a college might accept you. Just dont expect to be going anywhere too grand.
