At the admissions office for colleges, do they calculate your GPA by themselves or do they use the GPA given to them by your school but on a 4.0 scale. My school’s a’s are 92-100 and going down by 10 each grade… so would the admissions office of a college use 90 as a’s and calculate my GPA from there?
I’ve talked to counselors about this, and the thing is that admissions officers for colleges have seen all forms of grading, and they’ll figure it out. In fact, if you’re applying to the University of California system, a part of your application consists of entering in acceptable classes and a letter grade which a system will convert into a UC GPA. Schools usually accompany their transcripts with an explanation of how their grading system works, so I think the admissions offices will probably use the 92-100 as your school does as the definition of an “A”. Best of luck!
