Applying for College Many problems… spring 2009?
Hello
I’m in 12th grade and I was planning to go to Baruch coll
this fall 2008, but because of my visa, i can’t attend school
until 2009 spring term.
So I have 6 monthes of free time..
I was planning to go to Baruch because
I was suppose to immigrate to canada
before I finish my first yr of college &
it’s not so far from home &most of my friends go to baruch..
But I just got this news that my family might not go to
Canada b/c of some problems w/ application//.. [about 50%]
here are the questions…
I heard first yr of college is only general studies
Is there any disadv if i attend baruch and transfer
to another coll w/ different major? [ex. harder to get accepted etc]
Is it possible to apply for other college now? [[spring 2009]]
Is it possible to go to baruch only half year and transfer? [[fall 2009]]

ok, i’m going to answer these out of order
Yes, you can go only one semester or as many semesters they offer.
Yes, you can apply to another college…You should have no trouble getting into a community college (they are pretty easy). I have even helped people apply, fill out aid forms, and finish within 2 days of new semester. Just make sure that the college is accredited.
Usually the 1st year is general studies…sometimes you can mix in some of your required classes for your major (depends on the major).
You should not be at a disadvantage if you go ahead and attend….However, if you have something in mind as a transfer college, check to make sure that your classes will transfer.
